The Counselling Services of Bern institutes of higher education offer students and lecturers at institutes in Bern psychological help, coaching, information and workshops. These services are provided confidentially and free of charge.
Students can obtain psychological counselling in connection with study problems, in order to improve their learning and work techniques or prepare for examinations, to help them better cope with stressful or crisis situations, on changing their study programmes or starting employment, as well as if they have questions regarding personal development and relationships.
For specific information about their study programmes, students should contact the relevant Head of the Degree Programme or Head of Department at BFH. The Counselling Services help lecturers by offering counselling and coaching in the supervision of students, leadership and team development, career questions, conflicts and personal problems. The counselling and coaching sessions may differ in length and must be arranged through individual appointments.
Workshops on subjects such as work planning, learning methods, examination situations, coping with stress, presenting lectures and written work, starting your first job, etc. are held each semester. The programme together with other information is available on the Counselling Services website.
The Counselling Services provide a wide range of information. On the website, for example, can be found a study guide to Bern University of Applied Sciences, a link portal (a collection of about 500 university-related web addresses structured by topic), comprehensive questions and answers (FAQs), basic advice and information about key skills (coping with stress, presenting papers, written work, learning, examinations), information about completing study programmes, starting work and financing studies.
